Appcelerator Names Sandeep Johri, Former Senior HP Executive and Mayfield Fund Executive in Residence, as Chief Operating Officer

Senior Executive to Scale and Drive Adoption of Appcelerator’s Mobile Platform to Global 1000 Enterprises

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CALIF. – February 13, 2012 – Appcelerator®, the leading mobile platform company, today announced that Mayfield EIR and former Hewlett-Packard (HPQ) executive Sandeep Johri has joined Appcelerator as its chief operating officer (COO). A veteran Silicon Valley entrepreneur and executive, Johri will lead daily operations as the company grows to meet burgeoning enterprise demand.

“We are thrilled to have Sandeep, a proven entrepreneur and executive, join our team and come on board as COO,” said Jeff Haynie, Appcelerator’s CEO. “Sandeep has deep expertise and an exceptional track record in scaling businesses to take advantage of developing market opportunities, which will be critical as Appcelerator scales to meet the massive demand of mobility in the enterprise.”

Johri is a seasoned senior technology executive with more than 20 years of experience in both large corporate and start-up environments. Prior to joining Appcelerator he served as an executive-in-residence at Mayfield Fund, where he focused on opportunities in the enterprise sector, both evaluating potential investments and providing expertise to Mayfield’s portfolio companies.

“As a former Mayfield executive-in-residence, we are thrilled that Sandeep has decided to take on a senior leadership role at Mayfield’s flagship mobile enterprise portfolio company,” said Navin Chaddha, Managing Director at Mayfield Fund. “Sandeep’s track record, deep domain expertise, and unparalleled market access will be a huge asset to Appcelerator as it grows exponentially.”

Most recently, Johri served as vice president of cloud strategy at HP, where he was responsible for implementing the overall strategy for HP’s $57 billion enterprise business, as well as driving the industry and cloud solutions across this business. Prior to this role, Johri was vice president of corporate development for HP Software and the Personal Systems Group, with responsibility for defining growth strategy, identifying and executing acquisitions, spearheading operational improvement programs and implementing strategic partnerships. During his tenure at HP, he led the acquisition and successful integration of 12 software companies collectively valued at more than $7B.

Johri has extensive knowledge of the technology industry, including cloud, infrastructure management, security, SaaS, mobile, media and consumer internet. Prior to HP, he was the CEO and Founder of Oblix (acquired by Oracle), a leading provider of enterprise identity management solutions. Earlier in his career, Johri held management roles at Silicon Graphics and Gemini Consulting. He is currently involved as a board member of or investor in several startups, including Dhingana, a leading Bollywood music service, and Cenzic, a provider of software and SaaS products for Web security.

“Appcelerator is the leading open-source based mobile app platform,” said Johri. “Smart phones and tablets have transformed the mobile consumer experience, yet enterprise mobility is still in its infancy. The consumerization of IT is driving enterprises to become more agile and discover new sources of revenue and customer engagement, and Appcelerator is the company that can get them there. I look forward to working with the Appcelerator team to scale adoption of its platform and reach massive enterprise adoption.”

Johri holds a B.E. in mechanical engineering from the College of Engineering in Pune, an M.S. in industrial engineering from Wayne State University, and an MBA from Stanford University.
