Mountain View, CA – April 3, 2014 – Appcelerator, provider of the leading mobile enterprise platform, today announced plans for a multi-tiered integration with MobileIron, a leader in security and management for mobile apps, content and devices. The integration delivers the rich functionality enterprises need to streamline the delivery and management of secure mobile apps, to create more successful mobile app portfolios across their organizations.
The rise of mobile technologies is creating a sea change in the enterprise, with major opportunities ranging from increased customer engagement to employee productivity and collaboration. It is also forcing enterprises to rethink their app delivery process. To deploy a successful mobile app strategy, enterprises need to rapidly deploy tens or even hundreds of employee-facing apps, all while maintaining security of sensitive corporate data. This integration yields several product integrations between Appcelerator and MobileIron, providing new pre-deployment and production capabilities to meet this growing need. These include:
- Click-to-Publish: Publish apps for approval into the enterprise store from within the Appcelerator Platform development environment, reducing manual steps and speeding delivery. This is modeled after the same approach available today for publishing apps to public app stores like Apple’s App Store and Google Play.
- App-Wrapping: ‘Wrap’ apps to add additional security capabilities, such as on-device and over-the-air encryption, as well as app- and data-wipe, before publishing to enterprise app stores. This allows developers to add additional levels of security without modifying the app, and ensure security regardless of how devices are managed.
- App Containerization: Add significant levels of security management, such as access control policies, encryption configuration and reporting, directly within the app code. This also allows the distribution of apps to both public and enterprise app stores, as well as real-time provisioning.
“Apps are at the heart of every Mobile First initiative,” said Ojas Rege, vice president of strategy, MobileIron. “The integration between MobileIron and Appcelerator gives enterprises the app development, distribution and security platform they need to create great mobile user experiences for their most critical business processes.”
“Our integration with MobileIron demonstrates our commitment to openness and extensibility through our Appcelerator Platform, to give our customers the broadest set of capabilities to deploy and manage enterprise mobile apps,” said Jeff Haynie, CEO, Appcelerator. “Enterprises need to ensure security and control over their data, but also need to deploy dozens of apps a year or more, which deliver amazing experiences to their employees. We’re relentless in helping enterprises manage all of their mobility needs with our Appcelerator Platform, which allows them to build apps, connect to backend data and measure performance with real-time analytics.”
The click-to-publish integration between MobileIron and the Appcelerator Platform is available now with the app wrapping and containerization integrations planned for later in 2014.
