MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA, Jun 13, 2012 — Appcelerator®, the leading open platform provider for rapid and rich mobile innovation, today announced the opening of its second office in EMEA, solidifying the company’s leadership position in principal regions of mobile innovation in Europe. The new office, located in Stuttgart, Germany, will help Appcelerator satisfy the unprecedented demand for localized services in the DACH region, consisting of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
The DACH market is of primary importance for Appcelerator, given the dense cluster of mobility-focused enterprises in the region and the recent findings from a 2012 Internet Trends report(1) which ranks Germany ninth globally in mobile 3G penetration. The new location provides Appcelerator with a significant opportunity to help developers, partners, and enterprises in the region benefit from its integrated platform for rapid mobile-application development.
Thomas Reiber, Appcelerator’s Director of DACH, will lead the new office. Reiber brings more than twenty years of experience in the computer industry, including senior roles as the vice president of Enterprise EMEA for web commerce solutions company Endeca, later acquired by Oracle, and as the CEO of ICIDO, a provider of virtual reality and virtual engineering solutions.
“Thomas Reiber is an acknowledged expert in the European mobile market,” said Doug Norton-Bilsby, Appcelerator vice president and managing director of EMEA. “His leadership will help Appcelerator further localize our engagement with developers, partners, and enterprises in the DACH market, while tapping considerable unmet demand for mobile innovation.”
As part of its global initiative to provide the developer community with opportunities for networking and training, Appcelerator will host a number of meetings in Hamburg, Berlin, Munich, Frankfurt, and Dusseldorf. Appcelerator also plans to further develop its partner ecosystem in the region, expanding its relationship with third-party developer agencies, local enterprises, and strategic systems Integrators.
“The number of enterprises looking to launch and expand mobile initiatives is skyrocketing, and DACH is a market where we are seeing a particularly high demand,” said Jeff Haynie, Appcelerator CEO and co-founder. “We look forward to empowering the mobile workforce in DACH with a development platform that enables the creation of rich, cloud-connected mobile apps for any device and any platform.”
