Google will start rolling out Android 5.0 today, November 3rd. This rollout starts with the Nexus 9, and soon after to other compatible devices.

We have a CI build for SDK 3.4.1, which has been lightly tested on Lollipop. If you have Android apps, make sure you compile them against this SDK and test them on your Android 5.0 devices. If you find any problems, please report them to

With Android 5.0 comes a new design system called Material Design, which includes a whole new set of user interface elements. As with any other new OS feature, we rely on the community to prioritize adding support to them. If you’re interested in any particular new feature, make sure you file a feature request in, or show your support for any existing ticket.

    The showstopper is this issue:
it’s impossible to use the V21 support library without using V21 tools, and of course any V21 code should use appcompat and not the API directly.

There is a fix up for review for this issue…you may wish to try applying it to a private build to see if it addresses it for you as well.
