In late 2009, iTexico decided to open its doors to the world of collaborative software development. Based out of Austin, Texas with a delivery center in Guadalajara, Mexico, iTexico focuses on providing skilled extended teams and mobile application development services. iTexico provides full life cycle engagement during the app development, including strategy and architecture, design, backend services and testing and quality assurance. In 2011, they began a strategic partnership with with Appcelerator Titanium and have since then produced more than a dozen Titanium applications and have more than 15 Titanium Certified Developers on their team.
Each app iTexico develops is usually custom made, attractively designed and often implements their own Titanium modules. Some of the modules include an in-app messaging system; another changes the size and perspective of images to create a coverflow-like navigation. One interesting feature they have been able to include through modules is the ability to see and create real-time changes to shared .pdf files, which can be invaluable for enterprise apps that require collaboration.
A large number of the apps iTexico has developed fall under either social network connections or data management. One social app developed by iTexico that is already on the market is Stream: STEM Events for the iPhone. Stream allows users to quickly find nearby science, technology, engineering and math events. The app lists nearby events and locates them on a map. The details of each event including date, time and location are listed alongside the option to RSVP for the events. Users can also call the event coordinator from the app and share the events with friends via e-mail or text message. The app itself is simple with a streamlined and aesthetically pleasing user interface.
Another app is MobiOrder by Mobilistics for the iPad. Mobilistics is an enterprise-level product catalog that presents information and a price list for wholesale products. Users can scroll through product categories to view products alongside their inventory quantities and customer-specific pricing. The app also displays related items and communicates with the ERP System back-end that creates price quotes and receives sales orders. The app has an order status dashboard and allows users to see their sales history in order to help users manage their orders.
Aside from using Titanium through an integration partnership, iTexico also has a strategic training partnership with Appcelerator and offers the courses and examinations to become a Titanium Certified Application Developer. They have certified trainers and have conducted multiple classes in Mexico and Chile. According to David Sandoval, iTexico’s Marketing Manager, their partnership with Appcelerator has been extremely beneficial. “The support team from Appcelerator has been great. The partnership is helping attract a new breed of mobile developers and I look forward to its growth and continuance,” said Sandoval. Through their partnership with Appcelerator, iTexico’s near shore team is able to build exciting and cutting edge mobile solutions for their clients. Constant communication and collaboration results in higher quality and faster time to market. In addition, their bi-lingual expertise results in an expanded market for their clients.
