Titanium Mobile SDK 2.0.1 is available now

5 Flares 5 Flares ×
Update: We released Titanium Mobile SDK GA Revision 2 earlier today as the initial 2.0.1 GA release was missing the Appcelerator Cloud Services modules (Titanium.Cloud and Titanium.CloudPush). Please install this version to receive the ACS modules if you installed the initial GA release. Brace yourselves, Titanium fans. The latest helping of Titanium goodness, is now available hot off the update servers. Titanium Mobile SDK 2.0.1 is now available. We’ve been working on this feature release for last few months and I’m sure that you’ll find this release as exciting as I do. Titanium Mobile SDK 2.0.1 builds on the strengths of Release 1.8, adding numerous new features, improving parity across different platforms and addressing over 700 issues. This release takes the Titanium platform to the next level but I will let you be the judge. Highlights of the SDK 2.0.1 feature set include:
  • Integration with Appcelerator Cloud Services (formerly CocoaFish) to cloud-enable Titanium applications.
  • Mobile Web (formerly HTML5 platform) release candidate.
  • New Titanium Documentation Site with much improved documentation and examples
  • Composite layouts to address UI parity issues across different platforms. A migration guide is available to help you migrate your applications.
  • Well-defined module API for module developers.
  • More flexible geolocation functionality.
  • Xcode 4.3 and iOS 5.1 support.
  • Android V8 – Better memory management
  • Android r19 toolset support
We also processed quite a few community pull requests for this release. We appreciate the effort and commitment from our wonderful community and this release would not have been possible without your support. Read the Release Notes for additional details on all improvements available in this release.

Updating Titanium Studio

You should be automatically prompted to update your Titanium Studio software. If you do not see the prompt, you can select “Check for Updates” from the “Help” menu from within Titanium Studio.

Updating the Mobile SDK

Similarly, you should be prompted to automatically upgrade your Titanium Mobile SDK from within Titanium Studio. If you do not see the prompt below, you can manually check for updates by selecting “Check for Titanium SDK Updates” from the “Help” menu within Titanium Studio.

  1. Thanks for the great work Appcelerator Team!

  2. Jean-Sébastien

There is no update popup for Ti Mobile SDK 2.0.1 and no update when checking in Help.

    Can you help me ?

  3. @Jean-Sebastien: Have you tried manually initiating the update in Titanium Studio by going to “Help -> Check for Titanium SDK Updates” or “Help -> Check for Updates”? The former will update your SDK, the latter will update Titanium Studio itself.

  4. Neti

It’s very funny that this basic “addRoute( MapRouteType route )” method in mapView still not support Android after a year+ passed by.

  5. Max

Oh yes, I like the new documentation site :)
    Please keep it improved!

  6. John

I am also not getting the new SDK update. I was alerted for Titanium Studio within the IDE and did the upgrade but the SDK is still 1.8. I have tried checking for SDK updates from the help menu and “no updates are available.”

    • Kevin Whinnery

@John I’m sorry to hear that – we’ll reach out to you at the e-mail address you provided.

  7. Jean-Sébastien

thanks Tony. I tried before without success.

As there were no update popup, i took the SDK in the master branch (2.1.0)
then installed iOS 5.1 SDK (Lion) which i had to move to Applications by myself (before XCode 4.2, i didnt need to do it i guess) and then it is ok.

  8. I can’t install the update as my dependancies will conflict apparently.

Cannot complete the install because of a conflicting dependency.
Software being installed: Titanium Studio (com.appcelerator.titanium.rcp.product
Software currently installed: Shared profile (SharedProfile_AppceleratorProfile
Only one of the following can be installed at once:
    Titanium Studio (com.appcelerator.titanium.rcp.product
    Titanium Studio (com.appcelerator.titanium.rcp.product
    Cannot satisfy dependency:
    From: Shared profile (SharedProfile_AppceleratorProfile
    To: com.appcelerator.titanium.rcp.product []

Dallas–I believe it may be because it’s updating from a relatively old version. Is it possible to delete the version you have installed and just install the latest directly?

  10. Yogin

I just want to say that, Ti SDK update available popup was also not shown on my Ti Studio and Help -> Check for Titanium SDK Updates was also not working but once I updated my Ti studio to latest one, I got both working yellow popup at right corner for downloading SDK as well as help link. So if some one has not updated Ti studio and trying to check for Ti SDK download and help link is not working than they can also try this.

  11. Danny

Can you please provide a direct download link for SDK 2.0.1.GA2 for Mac?

Titanium Studio auto-update does only install 2.0.1.GA, but not GA2.

  12. Ingo Muschenetz

Danny–can you please check three things:

    1) Which versions of the SDK you currently have installed. You can see default locations here:!/guide/Installing_Titanium_SDK_Continuous_Builds. If you see 2.0.1.GA, try deleting that and restarting Studio.

    2) If you were part of the beta test and didn’t change any of those custom setting back again.

    3) Try navigating to “”…do you see 2.0.1.GA in the list?

If you see 2.0.1.GA2, but Studio doesn’t update it, please file a bug and we’ll be happy to help you. If you don’t see 2.0.1.GA2, then my guess is that perhaps you have some incorrect DNS settings.

I am confused to see that SDK 1.9 was skipped over. Don Thorpe explained that 1.9 would address poor table performance (which stems from the tableview API only being designed for small tables, and not scaling well ( ) and Kevin Whinnery said that 1.9 was slated for a March release ( ).

Right now slow tables are the biggest limiting factor for the apps we are building over here: some artist schedules and guest lists can be hundreds or even thousands of rows long and we’ve had to resort to painfully limiting UI workarounds instead of allowing users to browse (and more importantly, search) the entire datasets.

Now the SDK has jumped from 1.8 to 2.0, with no mention of improvements for the tableview API. Will the issue be addressed later or has it been shelved indefinitely?

  14. Alex – We do plan to address Table View performance issues in a later release.

  15. James Pollard

Same here…not getting the new SDK update. I was alerted for Titanium Studio within the IDE and did the upgrade but the SDK is still 1.8. I have tried checking for SDK updates from the help menu and “no updates are available.”

  16. Vince

2.0.1 release is really good ( memory management and performance) but when will we have access to IOS mapkit 5 ?

where can i ask for new features which are not related to bugs ?

    • Vince – You can JIRA ( to request new features.

  17. Alex

Thanks for the answer Neeraj. Is there a projection for which SDK will have TableView improvements and/or a predicted release date?

  18. Hi i am new in titanium environment. please any one give me the URL to download the SDK for titanium .By using the Help->check for updates i cant update any thing.
