Editor’s note: This and future episodes of Forging Titanium are available here.

One thing that uniquely separates Titanium from the pack of cross platform mobile solutions is its ability to leverage native functionality through its core API. One of the most powerful instances of this is the Titanium.Android.Intent API. Using Android Intents we can use existing apps installed on Android devices to perform all kinds of tasks, from playing video to mapping locations.

In this episode of Forging Titanium we’ll look at our Android Intent Cookbook app which shows us Kitchen Sink-style how we can use Intents for some of the more common mobile development tasks. In addition we’ll do a full walkthrough showing you how to use Intents to add, pick, edit, and view contacts.
