Appcelerator Entourage is a suite of products designed to work together or independently to help accelerate your RIA development. Our current release is built on top of the jQuery JavaScript library, but our products are built on top of an abstraction layer that will make it easy to support other libraries in the near future. Entourage consists of four major technologies:
- Message Queue (MQ): Provides lightweight pub/sub style UI development in the browser
- Expressions: Provides a domain-specific language for common RIA programming tasks
- UI: Provides a standard API for wrapping 3rd party visual components with a JavaScript API, plus ready to use rich components.
- Service Brokers: In conjunction with MQ, provides a simple RPC mechanism for connecting the UI with back end services in a variety of frameworks and programming languages.
