FAQs
Is there any change to the free use of Titanium with the new Platform pricing?
No, we have not changed anything in this regard. Titanium will continue to be available for free and you can continue to develop your apps without any commercial restrictions. We’ve also recently expanded this offering over the last couple of months (i.e. updated license agreement, larger ACS tier, open sourced modules, etc.) to enable you to be self-sufficient and successful building your apps with Titanium. Separately, we have introduced an enterprise-grade solution with the Appcelerator Platform that focuses on the specific needs of mobile enterprises. This is a distinct offering from the open source Titanium and is designed for large companies that wish to manage their entire Mobile First lifecycle.
I love your cloud services. If I exceed the free limits, can I buy it standalone?
No, you would need the Appcelerator Platform. Note that significantly higher capacity is available with the platform. Appcelerator sales and certified partners can offer a single license of the platform for $999 per month with a one year subscription. This will further increase your limits of cloud services to a monthly ceiling of: 10 million API and Push Notifications,100 GB of storage, and 200,000 emails.
What is the minimum contract of the Appcelerator Platform that I can agree to?
The minimum contract available for the Appcelerator Platform is 12 months.
How is the Appcelerator Platform different from the free version of Titanium?
The free version of Titanium is primarily a solution for the development of mobile apps, whereas the Appcelerator Platform supports the entire mobile lifecycle, along with commercial support, SLAs and technical training. The Appcelerator Platform includes Appcelerator Studio, Appcelerator Alloy, Appcelerator Cloud, Appcelerator Test, Appcelerator Analytics, and Appcelerator Performance Management – all under a single, newly branded SaaS offering. It also offers enterprise-class flexibility in the delivery of the solution both as a public cloud and virtual private cloud along with varying levels of guaranteed availability (SLAs).
What’s the definition of a Platform User?
A user is any named user with a username and password who accesses the platform – including designers, developers, testers, release managers, project managers, DevOps personnel, managers, executives and Line of Business owners. Users are unique and can be transferred from one individual to another via the administration interface in the platform. To be clear, end users of the deployed mobile apps are NOT considered users of the platform.
I recently purchased the prior commercial plan. Is that still honored?
With this new platform and pricing model, we’re now also retiring the three packages known as “Standard”, “Enhanced” and “Premium” all of which were licensed by application. If you are one of the commercial customers already on one of these packages, we’ll continue to honor your existing subscription until the end of your term. At that point, our corporate sales team will work with you on an upgrade path to the Appcelerator platform.
